It’s been a busy fun second week of the new year for the Aurora Class. As shared in our last weeks blog we are learning new things and at the same time we are continuing to progress from what we already started last year.

暖かくお元気に過ごしていただければ幸いです。 オーロラクラスにとって、新年の楽しい第 2 週が終わりました。 先週のブログで共有したように、私たちは新しいことを学んでいると同時に、昨年すでに始めたことから前進し続けています。
UOI Unit 4: I can be Organized
This week we have new updates on our UOI Unit 4: I can be organized, journey. After doing an introduction on our UOI (last week) the kids got a better sense of the concept by doing an activity. The activity was organizing their very own lockers. First the kids took out their baskets where they put their extra clothes, they checked and looked at each others basket, they learned how to fold neatly with the teachers help, they decided how to better place things back in their basket for easy use, they compared their basket with their peers and asked the teachers before finally placing it back in the proper shelf in their lockers. The kids also did the same thing with their (Arts and Crafts) Box. Then they also needed to decide where, which side of the locker, they would hang their backpacks, jackets and plastic bag. Hopefully they will be able to keep their lockers neat overtime. The goal is for everyone to know how, where and what was in their lockers and why. Actually the kids had been practicing putting their things away from the very beginning since they became Aurora, and they’ve been doing a great job at it, but this time around they get to better understand why we do what we do, naturally take ownership and so take responsibility for their things, their friends things, and the classroom. As a result they are familiar and comfortable in our classroom.
今週は、UOI ユニット 4 に関する新しいアップデートがあります: 私は組織化できます、旅。 UOI についての紹介を行った後 (先週)、子供たちはアクティビティを行うことでコンセプトをよりよく理解しました。 活動は自分たちのロッカーを整理することでした。 まず、子供たちは余分な服を入れるカゴを取り出し、お互いのカゴを確認し、教師の助けを借りてきれいに折りたたむ方法を学び、使いやすいように物をカゴに戻す方法を決めました。 彼らは自分のバスケットを他の生徒と比較し、最終的にロッカーの適切な棚に戻す前に教師に尋ねました。子どもたちはボックスでも同じことをしました。 次に、バックパック、ジャケット、ビニール袋をロッカーのどちら側のどこに掛けるかを決める必要もありました。 うまくいけば、彼らは時間の経過とともにロッカーをきれいに保つことができます。 目標は、誰もが自分のロッカーに何が、どこに、どのように入ったのか、そしてその理由を知ることです。 実は子どもたちはオーロラになってからずっと物を片づける練習をしていて、上手にできていたのですが、今回はなぜ私たちがやっているのかをより理解して、自然と主体性を持ってくれるようになりました。 ですから、自分の持ち物、友達の持ち物、そして教室に対して責任を持ちましょう。 その結果、彼らは私たちの教室に馴染み、快適になりました。

This week we also visited the Milky Way Classroom. There we were able to take a look at how our older friend’s classroom differ from our classroom. The Milky Way kids and teachers were so kind enough to welcome us and give us a tour of their room, they explained the function of the different key spaces in their room, they patiently answered our questions as well as they gave us new ideas how to keep a room clean and organize. Aurora kids where a bit shy interacting with the Milky Way kids in the beginning, but it was good for them to experience going to the big kids room since they will be the next Shooting Star. Being there helps prepare them to have an idea of what to expect come April the start of a new school year. It was especially fun when both groups played a game together. Thank you so much Milky Way for having us. We had fun doing the freeze dance.
今週もMilky Wayクラスへお邪魔しました。 そこで私たちは、Milky Wayの教室が私たちの教室とどのように違うのかを見ることができました。 Milky Wayの子どもたちと先生はとても親切に私たちを歓迎し、部屋を案内してくれました。部屋のさまざまな重要なスペースの機能を説明し、私たちの質問に辛抱強く答えてくれるだけでなく、 部屋を清潔に保ち、整理整頓する新しいアイデアを教えてくれました。Auroraの子どもたちは、最初はMilky Wayの子どもたちと触れ合うのに少し恥ずかしがっていましたが、次のシューティングスターになるので、大きな子どもたちの教室に行くという経験は彼らにとって良いものでした。 そこにいることで、新学期が始まる 4 月に何が起こるかを理解する準備ができます。 両方のグループが一緒にゲームをしたときは特に楽しかったです。 Milky Wayさん、ありがとう。 フリーズダンスをして楽しかったです。
