Hi everyone!
We had another jam-packed week in Aurora class. It was the start of a new month and the start of our new UOI. We also went to the park with Rainbow and the elementary class.
UOI3 – I know where I live
At the start of our new unit, we asked the students where they live. We noted everyone’s answer on the whiteboard and continued the discussion. We then tried to locate our homes from space using Google Earth. We started by zooming all the way out to outer space and gradually zoomed down to Nagano City.
During the activity, we learned that we live on planet Earth, in Japan, and in Nagano City. We also took a look at the distance between our planet and the sun and learned that there are 8 planets in our solar system. Next week, we will explore some countries before moving on to cities in Japan.
If you have some free time, we recommend that you take a look at the solar system as a family. We learned about the planets using this song.
Park
We had an amazing time playing at the park. We visited the park twice with two separate classes. The first trip was with Rainbow, and the second was with Milky Way. Seeing the Grade 1 and 2 students guiding our Aurora kids to the park was heartwarming!
Halloween songs
We have begun singing our new monthly song, “This is Halloween,” from the Disney movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.
We also had a fun Halloween dance that we will be dancing at the Halloween party, too!
