Hello everyone!
It has been a fantastic week, with the highlight being an amazing field trip! We have also had fun playing outside in the slightly cooler weather.
素晴らしい一週間でした。ハイライトは素晴らしいフィールドトリップでした。 少し涼しい気候の中、外遊びも楽しみました。
Field trip
We had an absolute blast on our field trip this week! One of our parents graciously arranged a fantastic day at Sarashina Agricultural High School. Thank you so much for helping put this together! Thank you to everyone at Sarashina Agricultural High School for making it such a special day.
Our recent field trip is directly related to our Unit of Inquiry 2, which focuses on the topic “How do we grow?”. We are currently discussing how plants grow and exploring ways in which we can assist their growth. This excursion provided our students with hands-on experience to reinforce their learning and make meaningful connections to their studies.
All our small Aurora students teamed up with some much bigger high school students. They first helped us plant some seeds in a small planter, which they got to take home after.
After planting, we went to the orchard and picked apples, pears, and grapes. It was heartwarming to see older students assisting younger ones. Everyone returned with big bags of fruit!
Finally, we went back to witness a special presentation by a group of students on the growth of fruits. The presentation was both fun and educational, and the best part was that it was all in English! The students did an outstanding job, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

今週の遠足は本当に楽しかったです！ 私たちの保護者の一人が、更級農業高校で素晴らしい一日を過ごせるように手配してくれました。 これをまとめるのを手伝ってくれて本当にありがとう！ 更科農業高等学校の皆様、特別な一日をありがとうございました。
私たちの最近のフィールドトリップは、「どうやって成長するか?」というテーマに焦点を当てた探求単元 2 に直接関連しています。 私たちは現在、植物がどのように成長するかを議論し、その成長を助ける方法を模索しています。 この遠足は、生徒たちに学習を強化し、学習に有意義に結び付けるための実践的な経験を提供しました。
私たちの小さなオーロラの生徒全員が、はるかに大きな高校生とチームを組みました。 彼らはまず、小さなプランターに種を植えるのを手伝ってくれました。その後、それを持ち帰りました。 種まき後は果樹園へ行き、リンゴ、梨、ブドウを収穫しました。 年長の生徒が年少の生徒をサポートする姿は心温まるものでした。 みんな大きな袋の果物を持って帰ってきました！
最後に、私たちは果物の成長に関する学生グループによる特別プレゼンテーションを目撃するために戻りました。 プレゼンテーションは楽しくて勉強になりました。そして最も良かったのは、すべて英語で行われたことです。 生徒たちは素晴らしい仕事をしてくれて、私たちもとても楽しかったです。 素晴らしいニュース！ いくつかの報道局が撮影に来て、今ではオンラインで報道されています。 以下のリンクから視聴できます

Reflection and formative assessment
In our upcoming UOI lesson, we took a moment to reflect on our previous trip by drawing and using clay to recreate what we remembered. As part of our ongoing formative assessment, the children were given the opportunity to present their creations to the entire class.
今後の UOI レッスンでは、粘土を使って絵を描いたり、思い出したものを再現したりすることで、前回のフィールドトリップ振り返る時間を取りました。 現在進行中の評価の一環として、子供たちにはクラス全体に自分の作品を発表する機会が与えられました。
