Now that the Christmas Show (and all the preparations and practices therefor) is past, there is lots to do to catch up and consolidate what we’ve been studying for UOI Unit 3: My Country.
今週は、Unit 3のまとめの週です。子供たちに、ジオラマの日本地図を用いて、日本の主要都市が、どこにあるのかを聞いた所、子供たちは、長野県や東京がどこにあるのか、しっかりとわかっている様子でした。また、札幌、名古屋、那覇市などの名前があがりました。
Students still have a lot of questions and observations for me, and for each other.
Everyone likes finding the Long Plain and its itty-bitty red city on the map, everyone knows the BIG red metropolis is the TOKYO area, and can also locate other cities and features on maps.
We’re finding that everyone can see better with our semi-circle formation now, and we enjoy telling about the things we bring to show friends. MOST of the time we can keep focused on the friend who is presenting, and ask good questions as well.
Morning circle timeやShow & Tellの時間などは、以前まで、２列に並んでいましたが、最近は、大きなCの形をつくり、皆が立たなくても見えるようにしています。皆、自慢のかっこいい玩具や手作りの工作などを持ってきて、Show&Tellを楽しんでいます！座って聞いている子どもたちも、発表しているお友達の話を聞けるようにしています。
Making each of our lockers more tidy and organized
クラスでは、ロッカーの整理を、自分たちでできるように声をかけています。しっかりと、お洋服を畳む姿をみて、普段からお家でも行っているのだなと感じました。また、クラスでは、UOIの学びとして、日本の文化について学ぶため、自分の好きな日本の行事を描きました。とても素敵な笑顔で、絵を見せてくれました。先週のはじめに、他のクラスのお友達と共に、皆で公園に出かけました。皆で、身体を動かし、元気に遊びました！
