Nagano Shooting Star- The Magic of Metamorphosis (Aug. 22nd-26th)

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Nagano Shooting Star blog!

We talked about how small creatures (bugs) grow and we realized that insects like bees, beetles, butterflies, and fireflies undergo the same stages in their life cycle or metamorphosis – egg, larva, pupa, and adult. our beetle’s and butterfly’s growth. Last week, we set our butterfly free because we want it to enjoy its life as an adult.

It was the World Honey Bee Day on Saturday, August 20th. We talked about why we celebrate this day and how important bees are to our planet. We celebrated this day by drawing a poster on how important bees are.

We went to the park to look for some bugs. We found dragonflies, ants, spiders, moths, and a cicada remain.

GYM

Our gym lesson has resumed after a month break. We missed it! It was fun going back and doing new exciting activities with our friends and teacher.

Phonics

“O says oh oh octopus!”This week we practiced reading cvc words with short o sound. We also out the octopus’ eight tentacles with matching cvc short o words and pictures.

Workstation

For this week, we played BINGO in station 1 recognizing and learning to say and read numbers from 1 to 75, and played with our clay in station 2 to develop and fine motor skills.

Outside Play

Play time is always a fun time! We played in the pool early this week, played in the sandbox, and went to the park to explore and run around.

Have a great weekend!
