Nagano Shooting Star: Where does snow come from? (Dec. 19th-23rd)

Where does snow come from?

This was our I Wonder question in our afternoon circle time after reading a book titled “There was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow”. So to develop our thinking and research skills, we were tasked to find out the answer to this question and be ready to tallk about it the next day. As IB learners, we need to be inquirers and thinkers to discover the answer.

One of us was able to remember the task and asked his parent about it. We found out that snow comes from clouds like rain. And just like what a freezer does with water, the freezing temperature in the sky makes water freeze and becomes snow. We also discovered the type of snow that’s good for making a snowman and the type that’s good for winter sports.
