みなさん、こんにちは。
It has been another fun week here in Aurora! We ended our second LOI, played outside in heavy snowy weather and finished our valentine’s cards!
ここオーロラでは、また楽しい一週間になりました。２番目のLOIを終え、雪遊びを楽しみ、バレンタインカードを完成させました♡
Crafts (Valentine card)
Last week, we made some nice hearts for our valentine crafts. This week, we finished our card by writing a nice message inside! We also pasted on the heart we made last week. The kids were all very excited to give the card to their loved ones!
先週からみんなでバレンタインカード作りをしています。先週は、ハート💛の部分の作成をしました。今週は、カードに心を込めてメッセージを書きました。そして、そのメッセージを書いたカードにそれぞれのハート♡を貼り付けて、カードを完成させました。子どもたちは皆、大好きな人にカードを渡すことにとても興奮していました🤩
Outside play
We had a lot of fun playing in the snow outside this week too. We used colored water to make some very colorful snow and ice. Our students are full of imagination, so I got to see them make many different things with the snow and color! We also made another snowman! One of the students wanted to give him a heart, so we made him a heart made out of some stones.
今週も外で⛄雪遊びを楽しみました。色とりどりの水を使って、とてもカラフルな雪と氷を作りました。子どもたちは、楽しむことを知っています🤩雪や色水でいろいろな物を作っているのを見ることができました🎨そして、大きなスノーマンも作りました。すると…一人の男の子が、そのスノーマン☃にハートをあげたい♡と言うので、みんなで小さな石ころを集め、ハートを作りました。
Math
We are working on our letter recognition of the numbers 11-20. We have done a few different activities to help the kids with the numbers while also having fun. Last week, we had a special numbers bingo with a special guest appearance from Mr. puppet!
数の活動では、１１～２０の数字の認識に取り組んでいます。子どもたちが数字を楽しみながら学ぶことができるよう、さまざなな活動をしています。先週、クラスの活動に先生のお友達のMr.Pappetをスペシャルゲストに迎え、数字のビンゴ大会がありました。子どもたちは、Mr.Pappetが大好きなので、大盛り上がりでした🤩
This week we did a couple of “color by numbers” worksheets. The picture on the paper is divided into distinct spaces. Each space has a number associated with it, and each number has a color assigned to it.
今週は、「数字で色分け」のワークシートをいくつか作成しました。パズルのようなピースの形が描かれた用紙があります。その一つ一つのピースには、数字が書かれています。そして、数字毎に塗る色が指定されているので、子どもたちは、数を認識して、指定された色を塗っていくと…何やら絵が浮かび上がってきました🤩
Renting a book at the library!
We took a special trip to the library this week. When arriving at the library, we talked about the very important rules in the library. Then, the students were allowed to freely look at all the books in the library, and choose one book to borrow home. We hope everyone is enjoying their books over this long weekend!
今週は、初めて図書館の利用をしました。みんなわくわくしながら図書館へ向かいました。図書館へ到着すると、まず最初にみんなで図書館利用についての大切なルールについて話をしました。そして、いよいよ自分の借りたい本を選ぶ時間がきました。子どもたちは、図書館にある本を一冊ずつ自由に見ていきます📚楽しそうな本がたくさんあります。ソファに座りお友達と一緒に本を楽しむ姿もみられました。そして、それぞれ一冊ずつ本📚を借りることが出来ました。この長い週末にみんなが本を楽しんでくれることを願っています。
Phonics
The students are getting more used to blending sounds together to read our CVC words, so we introduced a few more words ending with “AT”. The words we introduced this week was: Pat, sat, fat and mat. Also! Mr. Puppet made another game to help the kids learn at home too! I was so happy to ee that many of out students enjoyed and improved their reading ability with Mr. puppet last time! Please enjoy his latest game too!
今週のフォニックスでは、「-AT」で終わるCVCの単語をさらにいくつか紹介していきました。子どもたちは、フォニックスの音を繋げてCVCの単語を読むことに慣れてきています。今週紹介した言葉は、パット/サット/ファット/マットでした。Mr.PappetのCVCのゲームですが、子どもたちがおうちで学ぶことをサポートするために今週も別のゲームをつくりました🤩子どもたちがMr.Pappetと一緒におうちで楽しんで取り組んでくれたので、読むスキルが上達していてとても嬉しかったです。

Keeping organized during/after crafts and writing
We continued to talk about what responsibilities we have to try and keep ourselves organized. This week’s topic was how we can keep ourselves organized when we have crafts or writing lessons. We discussed both good and bad ways to keep everything neat and tidy. The teacher also demonstrated everything we discussed, so the students could more easily understand what we were talking about. I’m always happy to heat our students’ ideas and thoughts during out lessons. Now, the next challenge is to follow all the rules! Let’s do our best everyone!
私たちは、自分たちを組織するためにどのような責任を果たすことが必要なのかについて探究していきました。今週のトピックは、クラフトやライティングなどの活動の後、どのように自分の身の回りの環境を整理することが出来るのかについて話をしました。きちんと整理するための良い方法と悪い方法の両方を先生のデモンストレーションを見て理解しながら、アイデアを出し合っていきました。みんな自由に自分の気持ちやアイデアを出し合い、ディスカッションできることは素晴らしいです。では、次はみんなで出し合ったアイデア、話し合ったことを次の活動に生かせるように頑張りましょう❕
Presentation: Responsibility at school
Last week we presented the responsibilities we have at home. This week, the students had to present the responsibilities at school. The students came up in front of the class and answered the question “What are your responsibilities at school?”.
先週、わたしたちはおうちでの役割についての「Show&Tell」を行いました。今週、子どもたちはスクールでの役割/責任について考えていきました。子どもたちは、クラスのまえに出て、「スクールでのあなたの責任はなんですか？」という質問に答えました。
We got some nice and interesting answers! Some of the students answered that their responsibilities were helping their friends! It really shows how thoughtful our students can be with each other. We also got some other answers like “At school I organize my locker” and “I clean up after lunch”.
子どもたちの答えを、いくつかご紹介します。
「お友達を助けること」と答えてくれた何人かのお友達。他者を思いやる気持ちを感じられました。また、「スクールでは、ロッカーを整理している」や、「ランチの後の後片付けをする」などの答えもありました。それぞれが、責任や役割を持って生活をしているオーロラのみんなです☺
