Nagano Aurora – Let the hunt begin! (7-10 June) - ISN長野エリア｜インターナショナルスクールオブ長野（International School of Nagano）

Hello everyone!
みなさん、こんにちは。

It has been another fun week here in our energetic Aurora class. We learned more about accepting each other’s differences in our UOI lessons, had exciting gym and music lessons, and went to the pool for our swimming lesson!
元気いっぱいのオーロラクラスでは、今週もまた楽しい一週間となりました。
UOIのレッスンでは、お互いの違いを受け入れることについてもっと学び、エキサイティングなジムと音楽のレッスンを行い、みんな大好きなスイミングへも行ってきました。おうちの皆様には、毎回ご準備をしていただきありがとうございます。

UOI (We can be the same and different)

Our third and final LOI is “It’s ok to be different”. Our main activity this week was making a big “Elmer the elephant” together. Before making our elephant, we read the book “Elmer the elephant”. It’s a really sweet book that teaches kids that being different is not only ok, but can be a great thing! The teacher would stop and ask the kids questions about what was happening in the story while we were reading. If you haven’t read the book, please watch it together if you have time.
最後の３番目のLOIは、「人と違っていてもいいんだ」について学び始めました。今週の主な活動はパッチワークエレファントの「Elmer」をクラスみんなで制作することです。「エルマー」を作成する前に、「ぞうのエルマー」の本をみんなで読みました。人は、他人と違うことを気にしがちですが、そんなことは全く気にしなくて良いんだ、自分自身のままで良いんだ、と気づかせてくれるお話だと思います。先生は、物語の中で何が起こってるのかについて子どもたちに質問しながら、物語を読みました。

Swimming lesson

Excitement is always very high every morning before we go to the pool. Everyone loves the pool, and for good reason! We kicked off the lesson by continuing our alligator walk across the platform in the water. We then separated the platforms making a gap again, so they could glide over it in the water. It’s nice to see our brave students improve each time we do these activities! Good job everyone! We finished the lesson by repeating everyone’s favorite activity, the water slide!
毎回、プールへ行くことをとても楽しみにしているオーロラのみんなです。なぜなら、みんなスイミングレッスンが大好きだからです。
いつものように準備体操をして、シャワーを浴び、プールサイドに座ります。バタ足をしたり、先生たちからのお水の雨☔をもらったり、そしてお顔をお水の中につけたりと、徐々にお水の中へ入っていきます。
ワニさんになり水中の中を歩きます。そして次は、途中に大きな深い溝が!!オーロラさんこれも上手に先生にお手伝いしてもらいながら、進んでいきます。
みんな今回もたくさんお水と仲良くなれました。最後は、みんなのお気に入りウォータースライダーをしてお水の中へ滑っていきます。

Playtime!

The weather is gradually getting hotter, so when we play outside or go to the park, we make sure to take a lot of drink breaks. We brought the bubbles again to the park! The kids had so much fun running around chasing all the bubbles.
日中の外の気温が暑くなってきているので、外で遊んだり、公園へ行ったりする時は、しっかり水分補給をし活動するようにしています。
今回も、公園へシャボン玉を持っていきました。子どもたちは、シャボン玉を追いかけて走り回り、とても楽しい声がたくさん聞こえてきました🤩

We also have fun being silly when we play inside. This week, the kids had a little too much fun using clothespins…A new fashion trend??
えんぴつを指で握る力が不足していると感じた先生は、つまむ動作や指先を使うあそびを、意図的に行おうと洗濯ばさみと動物の絵が描かれた紙皿を用意しました。そして、洗濯ばさみをライオンさんやハリネズミさんに挟む遊びをしようと考えたのですが…
もちろん意図した遊びもしてくれ、夢中で取り組んでくれた姿に嬉しかったのですが…こんな新しいファッショントレンドが生まれた瞬間でした🤩

Phonics and writing practice

This week’s letter is H!
今週のアルファベットは、「H」です。

After looking at flashcards of various things starting with the letter H, we took a special look at the word “HAT”. The teacher will say the word slowly and ask the kids what letters they think he needs. I am very impressed by everyone’s engagement when we read together! We also looked at how the word changed if we replaced certain letters. Like changing the “A” to an “O”, changed the word from hat to hot.
先ずは、フラッシュカードを使い、Hから始まる様々な単語を学びました。そして、「HAT」３文字の単語をフォニックスの音を使って読むことに挑戦してみました。一つ一つの音を確認し、それを繋げたときにある単語になります。そして、自分たちで読んだ単語がある物の名前だとわかったとき「HAT」👒 、子どもたちはとても嬉しそうに自信に満ち溢れていました。他にも、「HAT」のAをOに置き換えて「HOT」にして、読む挑戦をしてみました。

In what has become a big favorite amongst the kids, we also had another letter hunt! This time there were 16 letter H hidden around the campus! Of course, they had no problem finding them all! And they did it with a lot of energy!
子どもたちの間で、大人気になった活動の一つ、「レターハント」!!
今回は、１６個の「H」がキャンパス内のあちらこちらに隠されています。オーロラのみんなはたくさんのエネルギーであっという間に、それらを探し出しました🤩

We also used crayons to color a big letter to make our own rainbow H.
Some of the kids chose to practice the stroke order, while others did some more traditional coloring.
また、クレヨンを使って大きなHに色を塗ります。大きなHがレインボーカラーになるまで何度も何度もなぞっていきます。Hの書き順でなぞりながら色を塗るお友達もいれば、創造性豊かに色を塗るお友達もいました。

Finally, we did our writing practice, by tracing the letter.
そして、最後は鉛筆を持ち「H」をなぞっていきます。

This month’s song is “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”. The song was composed for an old Disney movie called “Song of the South”. It actually won an academy award for best original song in 1947! This was also one of my favorite songs when I was at the same age too! We have a lot of fun singing this song everyday, so please sing it together at home!

今月の歌は、「 Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah 」です。この歌は、「南部の唄」と呼ばれる古いディズニー映画の為に作曲されました。そして、実際に１９４７年に最高のオリジナル曲、デアカデミー賞を受賞しました！Mr.Kennethがオーロラのみんなと同じ年の頃、良く歌ったお気に入りの歌の一つです。
