Nagano Shooting Star – Pin the eye on the alien! (June 3rd-7th)

Hello everyone!

I want to send out a big thank you to all the parents who came for our open school day. It was another fun week. We reviewed what we learned in our UOI, had fun in our swimming lesson, and continued learning about CVC word families.

UOI (Making friends)

Pin the eye on the alien!

We played “Pin the Eye on the Monster” to practice our teamwork. The students took turns being blindfolded and then tried to place a paper eye in the correct spot on the alien. Seeing the students use their communication skills to help their friends was amazing. After the game, we discussed the importance of working together. We then tried to pin the eye without help to see if we could still do it. The kids realized that without the help of their friends, it was almost impossible to pin the eye on the alien.

What is a good friend?

We reviewed our learning through a sorting activity. Each student received a poster for a good friend and a not-so-good friend. They were also given papers with different scenarios of good and bad behavior. The students cut out the examples and glued them onto the poster they felt it belonged to

Swimming lesson

As always, the kids had a blast at the pool for their swimming lesson.

Monthly song

A new month calls for a new song. This month, we will sing “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story. We encourage you to sing along at home, too!
