Hello Everyone!
It’s nearing the end of our UOI 1 (Unit of Inquiry 1). For the first part of the unit we tackled the LOI 1 (Line of Inquiry 1) : Who am I? For this month of June, we will tackle our LOI 2 (Line of Inquiry 2): Who are my friends? I did a prior assessment on what the kids collectively know by asking the question Who are your friends? and I am happy to say that most of them answered positively and they know what it somehow means. So the next challenge is putting into practice what we already know and what we will be learning from here on about friends and friendship. Our goal is to guide kids decide for themselves to be a good and true friend in word and in deed this will hopefully help forge their present and future friendships.
This topic is very timely because upon learning about ourselves, about others and upon forming connections with others, we can go deeper into strengthening their social skills and communication skills to help build good relationships among their peers. Along the way we will also incorporate our learner profiles – Principled, Caring and Inquirers.
UOI 1（Unit of Inquiry 1）も終わりに近づいてきました。このユニットの最初のパートでは、LOI 1（Line of Inquiry1）：私は誰？
この6月は、LOI 2（Line of Inquiry 2）に取り組みます： 私の友達は誰？に取り組みます。みんながどんなことを知っているのかを事前に聞いてみました。嬉しいことに、ほとんどの子供たちが肯定的な答えをし、それがどういう意味かをわかっていました。そして次の課題は、すでに知っていること、そしてお友だちや友情についてこれから学ぶことを実践していきます。私たちの目標として、子供たちが言葉でも行動でも、良い友達、真の友達になることを自分自身で決められるように導いていきたいです。
このトピックはとてもタイムリーなものです。なぜなら、自分自身について、他人について学び、他人とのつながりを形成することで、子供たちの社会的スキルやコミュニケーション・スキルを強化し、仲間同士の良好な関係を築くことができるからです。その過程で、私たちの学習者プロファイルである「原則的」、「思いやり」、「探究心」も取り入れていきます。
UOI 1 LOI 2: Who are my friends?
We began our journey on this topic by doing a group activity. The activity was for the kids to look and select photos that depicts a good friend versus a bad friend. After the activity we discussed WHY? they decided that such photos are good or bad. The kids learned to be patient while doing the activity because they had to share the glue and they had to take turns. After the discussion, the next task was to play as a group. The kids had to finish a puzzle together.
私たちはグループ活動からこのトピックを始めました。その活動とは、子供たちが良い友人と悪い友人を描いた写真を見て選ぶというものでした。活動の後、なぜそのような写真が良いのか悪いのかについて話し合いました。お友達とのりを共有し、順番を守らなければならないので、忍耐強く活動することも学びました。ディスカッションの後の次の課題はグループです。みんなで一緒にパズルを完成させました。
