Dance
The kids had a lot of fun learning a brand-new dance. Please take a look at the video below of them doing their best to follow along with all the new dance moves.
Swimming
The kids are always excited about using their bodies in the water. They all show great confidence when doing the activities in the water. There was no fear while gliding along the water on their backs.
UOI (Making Friends)
Magic words
We talked about some of the “Magic words” we should use when talking to others. The magic words we have agreed to remember and use are:
- Thank you
- Please
- Sorry
- You’re welcome
- Excuse me
- Can I _____
Let’s see if our polite kids will be able to use these words at home too!
Conflict handling
After discussing our feelings and how to use our words, we moved on to learning about ways we can handle conflict. We introduced the five-finger rule system by looking at this video.
After discussing each rule, we traced our hands so we could use our handprints to make our five-finger rules.
The rules are as follows:
- Ignore
- Move away
- Explain
- “Stop”
- Teacher
Mother’s Day craft
The kids worked hard to make a nice present for their beloved mommies. They made a picture frame by painting wooden sticks and drew a picture of their mommies to put inside.
Outside play
We are doing more structured activities and games when we play outside. Since we have been learning about magic words, we had a fun activity where they could use their bodies while using the magic words. The kids had to run to their friend with a ball, use the magic words: “Here you are”, “Thank you” and “You’re welcome”, then line up again.
Monthly song
Our monthly song for May is called “Why can’t we be friends?”. Released by the band War in 1975, the song is a plea for unity and understanding amidst societal divisions. You can listen to the or iginal version here:
