Hello Aurora families!

We have had another fun week at ISN!
今週の様子をお伝えしていきます。
At the end of last week, we celebrated our January birthdays. We had one birthday in Aurora, and one birthday from Rainbow class. We started off by interviewing each of the students, asking a mix of easy, and more difficult questions. Once the students answered each question correctly, they were given a prize consisting of a crown, and a birthday card from their teacher. After this, we sang Happy Birthday as a school. Then, it was time for fun – one of our teachers performed a Star Wars battle scene reenactment! Finally, since we have been learning about Aesop’s fables, two of our teachers put on a production of The Tortoise and the Hare. We had a great time, and happy birthday once again to our January birthdays!
まず先週の誕生日会です。各クラスから1名のお誕生日さんを迎えました。インタビューをしたらバースデークラウンをもらい、みんなに♪Happy Birthday♪の歌を歌ってもらいました。続く今回の出し物は、スターウォーズの一場面のリアリティあふれる物まねです。ちいさいお友だちは、声を上げて逃げるのを楽しんでいました。次に先生たちによるウサギと亀の劇を披露してもらいました。1月の誕生日さん、おめでとう！
Moving on to this week, and we started off by doing a Setsubun-themed craft. After introducing the concept of Setsubun and discussing different kinds of demons, we started our craft. We decided to design our own demon to scare away, and throw things at. We first sorted through some newspaper, finding different pictures that made us laugh, we thought were scary, or simply pictures we liked. After we had selected some pictures, we glued them onto a sheet of construction paper. Once we had finished this, we added some details to our demons using crayons. Finally, we were even visited by a demon-ninja, and the students did a great job in throwing enough paper balls at the demon-ninja to scare it away! It was a very educational and interesting lesson!
クラフトでは節分をテーマにして楽しみました。節分の紹介をしたあと、子どもたちは自分の思い描く鬼を作りそれをやっつけることにしました！新聞からおもしろいもの、こわいもの、すきなものの写真をみつけ、切り取ります。それを紙の上に鬼に見立てて貼り、最後はクレヨンで仕上げをして鬼の完成！みんな個性を発揮し、オリジナルなかわいい鬼たちが完成いたしました！忍者鬼もお部屋の外からやってきたので、みんなで新聞紙ボールを投げつけて楽しむ追い出すことができました。
Finally, we finished off the week with another great music lesson. We started off by practising some very difficult patterns using our castanets. These included 3 hits with a pause in between, 5 quick hits then a pause, and even a hit followed by a long pause and then another hit. Next we again pretended that we were going to an amusement park, and used hula hoops to simulate riding on a merry-go-round, teacups and even a roller coaster. Finally, we watched our teacher blow up a balloon, and observed how it inflated and deflated. We mimicked this by holding hands with our friends, first going very close to each other, and then walking back as far as we could while still holding hands. It was a very interesting experiment to observe!
ミュージックの時間には、カスタネットを使い難しリズムうちに挑戦をしました。いくつかのパターンの休符が入る3回打ち、同様に休符が入る高速打ちにチャレンジしました。難しいものもありましたが、よく耳で聞いて、正確に手を打ち、ぴったりときれいに音が決まった後の静寂を、楽しむこともできました！その後はいつものようにフラフープに乗り遊園地へGO!メリーゴーラウンド、ティーカップ、ジェットコースター、乗っている気持ちになって、リズムよく体を動かしました。最後は、先生が出した風船が膨らんだり縮んだりする様子を観察して、自分たちも風船になってみることにしました。みんなで手をつないで、膨らんだり、縮んだり。膨らもうとして腕を必死に伸ばして大きく大きくしている姿が、とても楽しそうでした！おうちでも簡単にできる遊びですのでぜひやってみてください！
