New Topic and Lines of Inquiry! (Nagano Aurora/Shooting Star June 28th-July 2nd)

Hello Aurora and Shooting Star families!

We have had another fun week at ISN!

This week, we started our second Unit of Inquiry Topic! For the next several months, we will be learning about many different kinds of animals. We will learn many things about animals, including the places they live, how we can help animals and how animals can help us.

Our first line of inquiry for this topic is “We share the world with animals”. For this line of inquiry, we will compare where humans and animals live by learning the habitats of a wide array of animals.

最初の テーマは “We share the world with animals” です。

Starting off, we first learned the names of some animals that live in the ocean. Our teacher showed us some flashcards, and we practiced saying the names of the animals, as well as discussing if anyone had seen any of the animals before. We also had a discussion about whether we liked the animals or not, making sure to give our teacher reasons for our answers!

Once we had learned the names of several sea creatures, we worked on decorating our classroom with a large piece of blue paper, representing the ocean. As a class, we then drew many sea creatures on our ocean paper, using a mix of sea creatures we had just learned, as well as some animals we already knew from our experiences outside of school!

We will continue learning about a wide variety of animals, and doing many fun and interesting activities during this topic!

Thank you very much everyone, and see you again next time!
