This week has been special because we got to visit Nagano Forest Dental Clinic and experience taking care of one’s teeth. We were taught how to brush our teeth thoroughly and what happens to our teeth if we don’t brush them.
今週もとても素敵な１週間となりました。長野フォレスト歯科さんへ社会見学へ行き、私たちが歯医者さんになりました😁 歯磨きする事の大切さを肌で体験しました❣
The kids were grouped into four teams. Each of them was given a card where they put their stickers after completing a task. There were four tasks: brushing their teeth, cleaning the spots on a quail egg that serve as one’s tooth, removing a cavity and putting dental fillings/ resin using the dentist’s equipment, and sitting on a dental chair. After that, the kids were able to ask questions to the dentist. Finally, they were given a certificate of completion for successfully accomplishing all the tasks. Cool!
４つのグループに分かれて、３つの仕事をこなし、それぞれお仕事が終わったらシールをもらえるスタンプラリー形式でアクティティーを考えて下さっていました😍３つのお仕事とは、おいしいココアのクッキーを食べてその後、念入りに歯磨きをするお仕事。うずらの卵のブチを歯医者さんの道具で綺麗に白くするお仕事🥚。イスに座っているダビーの虫歯を取って穴を詰めるお仕事です。最後に歯医者さんへいろんな質問をしました。私たちはCommunicators and Inquiresです。😎😎😎
Dentists help us take care of our teeth. The kids asked why we have teeth and why we take care of them. After going to the clinic, the kids understand what dentists do and how they help people, which is part of our UOI LOI 3: Who works in the different buildings.
こんな質問がありました。「歯はなぜ生えるの❓」「何で歯磨きしなければいけないの❓」 「どんな虫歯を治療したことがあるの❓」「どうして虫歯になっちゃうの❓」 この社会見学を通して歯医者さんの仕事について学ぶことが出来ました。UOIのレッスンのLOI3はWho works in the different buildings. 様々な場所で働く人。についてです。今後も沢山アクティティを通じて探究していきます。
This activity was a great experience for all of us! We can say “cheese” now with our nice teeth!

We also passed through Nagano Station on our way to the dental clinic. The kids knew that the station is also an important part of our community that helps people travel not only around Nagano but in other places as well.
今回の見学場所は長野駅の近くでしたので長野駅の構内も少し歩いてみました。駅も私たちのコミュニティーです。県内の移動だけでなく、他県へ移動するための移動手段の１つとしてとても重要な役割を果たしている事を確認しました。🚎🚗🚌🚖

Craft: Bamboo Dragonfly
We didn’t want to end this week without a craft activity. So, we made something that has been present for a long time. It’s called a bamboo dragonfly, however we didn’t use bamboo. We used a strip of milk pack , a straw, and tape instead. After making the craft, we had an Olympic game where we tried to fly it. The player’s dragonfly that can fly the farthest wins. The participants were from all over the world like Japan, Russia, Australia, China, Mongolia etc.
クラフトのクラス無しでは今週は終われません😉今回のクラフトは日本で昔から遊ばれてるおもちゃ、竹とんぼを作りました✂🧃 実際の竹の代わりにストローと牛乳パックを使いました🧃 作り終えると、クラスのお友達で誰が一番遠くに飛ばす事が出来るかのオリンピックゲームをしました❣先生からの”Where are you from?”の質問に対し、”I’m from Japan!”, “I’m from Russia”, “I’m from Australia”, “I’m from China”, “I’m from Mongolia” など 出場国も様々でした😆
